What is Lamp Post?

Lamp Post Creative Learning Center aims to provide a facility and/or campus to house plays, learning groups, classes, and clubs to meet the needs of our community for ages children to adults who desire to explore and learn.  This place will be a place to build a vibrant community through active learning, integrity, hard work, dedication, and faith.  It will be a space where a variety of people can come and share their knowledge, craft, and expertise to others.  This will be a place for Creators to have a space and resources to practice their craft and Creative Teachers to teach others.  Lamp Post Creative Learning Center is a Section 501(c)(3) charitable corporation and is recognized by the State of Colorado as a charitable corporation, donations to which are tax-deductible.

  • Young Adult Social Nights

    June 20: 6:30-10pm

    An opportunity for young people, age 18-30, to hang out and do fun activities together.

  • Summer Theatre Camp

    July 7-19

    Performance Camp (ages 6-18): Monday-Friday, 9am-12pm

    Tech Camp (ages 12-18): Monday-Friday, 1pm-4pm

    Ages 12-18 may sign up for both camps

  • Family Adventure Nights

    TBA

    Embark on an evening of fun and adventure for the whole family. These fun family activities will be scheduled every couple months.

Meet the Team

Nicholaus and Corinne Sandner are co-founders of this new non-profit! We are all about YOU, the community of Cortez, Mancos, Dolores, Montezuma County! We are here to provide creative learning to ALL ages and to build community through that creative process.

We love you all and wish to make a more vibrant place to live, create and play!


  • Co-Founder

    Nicholaus Sandner’s motto is “Never Stop Learning!” 

                    He has a BA from Fort Lewis College, with minors in  Computer   Science and English Communications.  He has been teaching in Cortez, CO for the last 14 years with certifications in CTE Administration (Career and Technical Education) and Code.org (computer programming education), building his theatre program from a handful of high school students to a program that holds a quarter of the HS student    population with huge community support and participation.  His last musical at the HS had a cast and crew with adults and students of 124!  He received the  2024 Colorado Theatre Teacher of the Year Award this past fall.  He also received the Bobby G (Colorado Education Theatre Awards) Outstanding Community Leadership Award in 2023.

    He comes into Lamp Post Creative Learning Center with 20+ years of theatre experience.  His own creative learning includes making sugar glass, prosthetics, prop making, set building and design, laser wood burning, resin printing, form casting, alginate mold making, silicone molds and replicas, and foam fabrication.

  • Co-Founder

    Corinne Sandner is a 5th Generation Resident of Southwest Colorado.  Born with one hand, she hasn’t let that slow her down.  She is a wife of a dedicated, creative mind, mother of five, one with special needs, and a BA in Music from Fort Lewis College.  Art and music are a passion of hers, with 30+ years of    teaching music lessons from ages 4 to 93.  She has a great love of painting whether it be acrylic, oil pastels, watercolors, or sets for stage.  She has 15 years of experience with set design and scenic painting.  She has also tried her hand at prop making for a few shows.

    Corinne is also very passionate about writing and leading Women’s Retreats for ten years, bringing love and care to women of the Four Corners.

    Corinne also has experience in publishing with programs, ads, and newsletters.

    Autism Education and Limb Difference are areas she actively teaches and shares about.

Our Services

  • Theatrical Productions

    Offering play productions throughout the year for all ages. Come learn to sew, to build and paint sets, to act, and to make music. Summer theatre camps for you also offered.

  • Community Space

    Need a space for your medium to large group? We offer open spaces that fit a large variety of needs. We are happy to host your event.

  • Learning/Teaching

    All ages are welcome to come learn something fun and new. We will be offering a variety of classes in STEM, art, music, foam fabrication, cosplay, animatronics, and mold making.

    Do you have a creative skill to share? Come be a teacher with us. We will handle all the advertising and supplies, and we will provide the space.

  • Retreats

    Our space is a perfect place to come and recharge. We will be offering several types of retreats to meet a variety of needs.

    If you want to have a team building retreat for your company, come to creatively play and build together.
